Map Tiles Won''t Load

The most common culprit is a slow or unstable connection. Windy renders weather layers as map tiles, and each zoom level triggers a fresh batch of requests. If your internet drops even briefly, tiles freeze mid-load or show grey patches. Try switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa, then reload the page. Clearing the browser cache also helps — stale tile data can block fresh requests.

Forecast Data Freezes or Lags

If the animation slider stops responding or the timeline gets stuck, the issue is usually with the browser tab running out of memory. Windy''s 3D wind layers are GPU-heavy. Close unused tabs, disable hardware acceleration in browser settings temporarily, or switch to a lighter model (ECMWF instead of GFS) to reduce load.

App Crashes on Launch

- Force-close the app and reopen it

- Clear the app cache in your phone''s settings

- Make sure the app is updated — outdated builds often conflict with new API responses

- If the crash persists, reinstall the app entirely

Location Search Returns No Results

The search bar depends on an external geocoding service. If results stop appearing, check whether your device''s DNS is resolving correctly. Switching to a public DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 often fixes silent lookup failures.
